One of heaven's markers in this generation is CHANGE. Moving from this generation to the next, the amount of change we are going to experience is going to be mind bending. To many, change is scary and un-spiritual. But to others, it is a breath of fresh air. It is an invitation to live an adventurous life with Him.
What if Holy Spirit is asking you help steward momentum for the next generation of worshipers and Jesus people on the earth?
If you've spent any time with Holy Spirit at all, it's often a relationship filled with a mix of him revealing Jesus, speaking to you about you, but also challenging you to be someone who brings a kingdom influence into this world. Sometimes that influence is a kind word to a stranger, a much needed encouragement to a friend, a prophetic declaration into someone's life, or healing where there is sickness. The list here is unending. But what if sometimes Holy Spirit is asking you help steward momentum for the next generation of worshipers and Jesus people on the earth? What if your greatest ministry is not on Sunday morning, but it creating a foundation and structure for the future to build upon?
I believe of course in a life filled with worship, presence, and continual communion with God. But, our responsibility doesn't stop there. Our spiritual act of worship doesn't end there. This is just the beginning. What if our responsibility as royalty in the earth included creating amazing business plans, financial models, or strategic marketing campaigns? What if your intimacy with Holy Spirit began to produce a new way of doing things in the market place for the next generation?
To some, the life of the Spirit is only relevant to worship, prayer, and teaching.
Here's where the rub is. As we move into the future advancing the kingdom and people start to feel the permission from heaven to explore what partnering with Holy Spirit really looks like, we are going to see more and more expressions of heaven that are outside of Sunday morning. To some, the life of the Spirit is only relevant to worship, prayer, and teaching. But to others, the advancing kingdom looks like stewarding heaven's ideas as an expression that influences every realm of society. As those who move into exploring what it looks like to partner with heaven outside of "church", sometimes our biggest critics are our family inside of "church".
So what is going to be the secret ingredient that keeps the fabric of the church from tearing as brave believers move into their new positions for world change and kingdom influence? It's not profound, in fact, it's been here all along. Love. Books have been written through the scope of time defining what love is, what it means, and how it is expressed. But, how does love play into this little narrative? It keeps us working together and it keeps a healthy focus off of ourselves. It puts the spotlight on others and keeps us fighting for justice in their lives.
Loving others doesn't mean that you practice tolerating them. It means that you are an active participator in fighting for justice in their lives.
Loving others doesn't mean that you practice tolerating them. It means that you are an active participator in fighting for justice in their lives. It means that you are now a fighter for their dreams, for their greatness, and for the treasures that heaven has placed in them to be on full display. We were created to display His brilliance. And that always includes helping others to shine brighter than yourself.
Are you offended when people do well? Are you ship wrecked when others become great? Do you put on your pharisee hat when others are given a platform to influence the world for the sake of good while you are still in the shadows? These little tests from heaven will always come to check our hearts. Personally, I would rather surround myself with people much greater than me, people that do exploits and people who know how to shine. Not for the sake of climbing a ladder, but so that I can become great at championing others also. After all, that's what the great ones do.
