HE STOPS COUNTING AT ONE

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
— Psalm 133 NIV

To me, this Psalm speaks of the blessing of having community as we worship the Lord. Let me explain.

King David wrote how good it is when believers have fellowship and live in unity with God.

In Psalm 133:1, King David wrote how good it is when believers have fellowship and live in the unity with God. Jesus spoke of this unity in John 17:20-26. He said it is His desire that we may be unified in love and the world would know the Father sent the Son because of the unity that shows love for one another.

Henry Haney, founder of the One Worship in San Diego, said believers have unity because we all one with the Lord. We need to develop community with other believers.

When we come together to worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we cause a blessing on the rest of the body of Christ.

When we come together to worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we cause a blessing on the rest of the body of Christ.

David said it is like the precious oil running down the beard of Aaron. Aaron and his descendants were the high priests before Jesus. Now, Jesus is the High Priest. So when we come to anoint Jesus with our praise and worship, the anointing oil runs down the head and onto the body of Christ.

He compared that anointing oil to be like the dew from Mount Hermon falling on Mount Zion which is Jerusalem. Zion means "parched place". The dew of Hermon is very thick. Hermon is over 100 miles away from Mount Zion. Distance is not a factor, here. It’s like, wherever there are dry and thirsty places the richness of living water is available because of believers coming together in worship.

The Lord loves a worshiping community so much He declares His blessing of life, forevermore.

The Lord loves a worshiping community so much He declares His blessing of life, forevermore. That’s an abundantly good life, according to Jesus.

As we come together with songs of ascents, our worship arises to Jesus, the High Priest. The result is Jesus is anointed, the rest of the body of Christ is anointed and the Lord bestows His blessing forevermore.

When the Lord sees a crowd of believers, He stops counting at ONE.

Let’s get together more often as a community. There are no magical numbers. When the Lord sees a crowd of believers, He stops counting at ONE. It’s the unity of the community that moves Him to bless.
